MISSIONS
One way of looking at the difference between ministry and missions involves the questions of "where" and "to whom". Ministry takes place within the body of Christ, missions happen outside the walls of the church. Here at First Baptist Irmo, we have the opportunity to serve and help several missions projects. We support the North American Missions Annie Armstrong Easter Offering, South Carolina and North America Janie Chapman missions drive in September and the International Mission Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. We also as a church support our local school district by providing Snack Packs for at risk children, and internationally Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes. Our Sower’s Ministry is very busy both locally and internationally making and providing sewn goods.

Annie Armstrong
The Annie Armstrong Easter Offering (AAEO) is the primary way Southern Baptists fund missions in North America. One hundred percent of gifts given to AAEO go to the field to support more than 2,900 missionary families serving across the United States and Canada.

Lottie Moon
Lottie Moon was sent as a Southern Baptist missionary to China from 1873 to 1912. She saw firsthand the world’s greatest problem — LOSTNESS. Meeting so many people who had never heard the gospel compelled her to write letters to American churches describing the need for a greater missionary presence.
She pleaded for increased prayer and financial support to send and sustain more missionaries. This challenge became known as the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering®.
